In what is perhaps the most competitive segment in the market, the Ford F-150 is a half-ton pickup that has shown its dominance over and over again. Onboard Scales (measures and displays the weight of the F-150's payload).Integrated trailer brake controller (allows adjustment of a trailer's brakes from inside the vehicle).Available with three power ratings: 2 kW, 2.4 kW and 7.2 kW (hybrid engine only).Adds household-style plugs that can be used to power tools, electronics or small appliances.
Other significant options to look out for are: Most lower trim levels can be fitted with options that come standard on higher trims. It also comes standard with 37-inch tires that are otherwise an option on the regular Raptor.Īs you'd probably expect of a full-size pickup, the F-150 is available with all sorts of options. The Raptor R swaps the Raptor's turbocharged V6 for a much more potent supercharged V8.
Rear automatic braking (applies the brakes automatically to avoid an imminent collision with an object behind the vehicle).Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning (alerts you if a vehicle is in your blind spot during a lane change or while in reverse).Forward collision warning with automatic braking (warns you of an impending collision and applies the brakes in certain scenarios).Lane keeping assistance (steers the F-150 back into its lane if it begins to drift over the lane marker).Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration (both with wireless connectivity)ĭriver assist features on the XL include:.12-inch touchscreen with Sync 4 infotainment system.Standard features on this base trim level include: (Note: The all-electric F-150 Lightning is reviewed separately.) A hybrid powertrain (Ford's PowerBoost) that combines the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with an electric motor and a battery pack (430 hp, 570 lb-ft).Raptor R-specific supercharged 5.2-liter V8 (720 hp, 640 lb-ft).Raptor-specific turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 (450 hp, 510 lb-ft).If you need more, then you can amp the speakers at that time.
I think you'll see more bang for your buck with speaker upgrade alone, than a new head unit and sub even. Put money into the speaker budget and leave the current Ford head unit, and a small sub. New head unit may help the sound a bit, but again more power to bad speakers, not going to do much. Add an amplifier and you'll more than likely destroy them with no sound benefit. I'm no longer into rattling the neighbors windows, just looking to fill in the lows so I hope it will be enough. I personally went with a smaller powered sub as I cannot lose any floor space in the truck. I'm still waiting on delivery of the parts, so no feedback on how it sounds yet unfortunately, but am excited about it. Lots of research here, youtube, plus personal experience from previous cars, and consulting with Bruce hushcaraudio here on the forums, has lead me to do a full speaker swap, 4 channel amp, and a small powered sub that will fit behind the rear seats, and some sound deadning. I too just started this journey with a similar thought of nothing to crazy.
